For many women, these responsibilities exist beneath the surface of ordinary life, rarely acknowledged yet continuously present. They accumulate quietly, becoming part of the landscape of the self.
Alongside this invisible labour exists another weight: the tension between authenticity and acceptance.
For queer individuals, the act of moving through the world can involve a continual process of negotiation — between visibility and safety, belonging and difference, self-expression and expectation. The desire to be recognised without explanation. To exist without justification.
The figures in this series inhabit these spaces of contradiction. Strength and exhaustion. Presence and fragmentation. Visibility and concealment.
Rather than offering resolution, THE LOAD UNSEEN gives form to experiences that often remain unnamed. It is a reflection on what we carry.
The responsibilities, expectations, fears, and identities that shape us from within. And on the quiet resilience required to carry them.
